SATURDAY NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

After a busy party day at Emigrant Lake today, Debra and I returned home with Makiah and Naomi for an evening of entertainment.

Upon arriving home, the girls almost immediately sequestered themselves in their bedroom with the door closed.  Their door remained closed for a fairly long time while happy noises came through the walls.  They were practicing for a performance to be delivered exclusively for Papa and Nana.

After the girls provided us with some great entertainment, they then finished the evening on the receiving end of some more entertainment.  We watched another suspense thriller together, Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

When the movie ended, they went to bed.

The Makiah and Naomi Show begins.  Click the play tab below to watch it.

The night comes to an end as the entertainers become the entertained, with a movie to watch and a Nana to snuggle.

PARTY TIME AT EMIGRANT LAKE

Today we celebrated Makiah's birthday at Emigrant Lake.

Makiah's family was there, including parents, three siblings, both sets of grandparents, and a couple of Makiah's second cousins, Camille and Michael (thirteen-year-old twins), who we met for the first time.

Adorned with swimsuits and lifejackets, Makiah and Naomi are ready for the Emigrant Lake Water Slides.
I accompanied Naomi for our first ride.  After that, she wanted to do the slides all by herself.
Gordon, showing only his left and right forearms, accompanies Makiah down the slide.
Gordon also accompanies Alexia.
Baylee descends the slippery slope.
Josie and Makiah slide tandem.
Alexia cruises on Nana's lap.
Naomi pumps her fist in anticipation of her solo flight.
Her solo flight.
Sunbathers.
Alexia widens her smile.
More sunbathers.
When you spot a fly crawling on the table, you can either swat it, flick it, or try to blow it away.
When you're hungry and you're waiting for the food to be served, a good way to pass the time is to push dirt around under the table with your feet.
Hungry, uninvited visitors helped themselves to some leftover chicken.
Some of their friends also took advantage of the free food.
Makiah opens gifts.
Makiah models her new Hello Kitty hat.
Michael, Baylee and Naomi walk to the lake.
Baylee, Naomi, Michael and Camille venture out into the lake.  The protruding rock in the background is their destination.
MIchael, Naomi and Camille conquer the rock.  Oh, yeah, Baylee is there, too.
Camille and Naomi return from the rock.
Alexia splashes water into Naomi's face before the day comes to an end.

SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL COUSINS

I thought it was a bit strange when Debra called me from the parking lot of a nearby grocery store just so that Makiah and Naomi could scream at me as loud as possible through Debra's phone.

But I soon realized that that was not the intent of Debra's call when I heard her say, "Be quiet, girls.  I'm trying to talk to Papa."

Makiah is having a birthday party this weekend and she invited Naomi.  They are both spending the next couple of nights at our house.

It's noisy.

Really noisy.

Naomi and Makiah sit on our Adirondack love seat.
Both girls flaunt the gaps where their upper right front teeth once lived.
Toys and noise, but no boys.  Except me.
Dressing dolls.
Two dolls in a doll house.
Makiah takes a picture of me taking a picture of her.
Naomi chills.
Thumbs up for pizza.
Debra took off for a couple of hours to help Ashley move into her apartment while I watched a thrilling movie, The Smurfs, with the girls.
The intensity of the movie reduced the noise level in the house, then it was time to go to bed and end the day.  A fun day.  A fun, noisy day.
