TALENT HARVEST FESTIVAL

By specific intent, this weekend was designated to be a time of relaxing with no traveling, with no household projects and with a bunch of together-time with just Debra and me.

Last night we went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant, rented a movie, bought a carton of ice cream and sat in front of the TV until we could stay awake no longer.

This morning we got up, got dressed, and headed into downtown Talent for their annual harvest festival.  We stayed there for about four hours then we returned home.

I'm feeling pretty relaxed.

With the sun warming our backs on a sunny but brisk morning, Debra and I sit on a curb waiting for the parade to begin.
Debra, shown here at the far left, claps for the high school band as they march by us in the parade.
A roller derby participant prepares to jump three of her teammates.
After the parade, we take a break at the Downtowne Coffeehouse, before we take in the rest of the harvest festivities.
We take a seat on a bale of hay and enjoy one of the many bands performing throughout the day.
A lively salsa band, Salsa Brava, brought some of the audience to their feet in an open dance area in front of the stage.  Debra and I thought about getting up and dancing, but the part of my brain that remembers stuff couldn't recall the moves from some salsa lessons I took fifteen years ago.  Plus, everyone who did dance, performed like they were born on a dance floor in Cuba or in Puerto Rico.  So we happily watched.  Then we happily went home.
