SNOW DAY

Yesterday the school district in Medford declared a snow day and all the public schools were closed.  It seemed like a premature call since most of the day was sunny with a few light moments of snow.  By the time I left work at 4:00 p.m., however, the roads were covered with snow and ice.  Usually it takes about 18 minutes to drive home.  Last night it took 90 minutes.

When I got home, my truck couldn't make it up our slightly inclined driveway into the garage.  I had to shovel snow and ice away from the tires to get the truck inside.

After safely arriving home and parking the truck in the garage, Debra and I walked through the snow to a pizza place a couple of blocks from our house, bought a pizza and returned home to eat it.  We had to walk because the roads had become undriveable.

Today we have been mostly trapped inside, except for one brief trip to the grocery store in Debra's front wheel drive vehicle.

The view from our front porch looking over the snow capped rail into the same field.

Snow covered pergola and frozen hummingbird feeder.

Morning icicles.

Thick, white, powdery trash-dumping obstruction.

The other corner of the backyard.

Our resident hummingbird waited on its favorite perch until I brought the frozen hummingbird feeder into the house, thawed it out, and returned it to the backyard.

Happy hummingbird returns to its favorite dining spot.
